Why a news-driven index?

Most thematic indices rely on static sector classifications that can be slow to capture emerging trends. In fast-evolving themes such as -, evidence of new business activity often appears in credible media coverage before it is reflected in traditional sector labels. By analyzing business news each month, - dynamically identifies and tracks companies showing meaningful, current relevance to the - value chain.

    Disclosures & Limitations

Simulated Backtest Performance. Returns shown prior to the index inception date (-) are simulated via a research backtest applying the current methodology to historical data. Backtested performance does not represent actual trading and inherently benefits from hindsight. Furthermore, the backtest matches companies to their present-day listings, excluding historical constituents that were subsequently acquired or delisted. This survivorship bias generally flatters historical returns.

Costs & Fees. Headline index returns represent a Gross Total Return (GTR), assuming the reinvestment of all dividends without deductions for withholding taxes, management fees, or borrowing costs. The "After trading costs" series applies an estimated transaction cost of 10 basis points to each one-way traded notional amount. It does not include market impact, taxes, custody fees or other portfolio-level charges.

Metrics Calculations. Sharpe ratios are calculated using the 3-month U.S. Treasury bill as the risk-free rate. Year-to-date (YTD) figures are cumulative and not annualized. Annualized metrics assume 252 trading days per year.
